Why Basic is free
The app runs on your Mac with your own key, so Basic can stay free and unexpiring — a couple of sessions a month is enough to prepare properly. Pro is for the stretch when you are actually interviewing, and it stops the day you stop needing it.
You pay your AI provider directly — or nothing at all on-device. We never resell tokens or take a cut, on any plan. Sessions are a plan size, not a token bill.
Interviewing is a sprint, not a lifestyle. Subscribe for the weeks you are interviewing, cancel the day you sign the offer.
When a subscription ends you land back on Basic, not on a dead app — your settings, history and key stay put, and the copilot still answers.

You bring your own provider key. Many are free — Apple Intelligence and Ollama run on-device at no cost, and Gemini, Groq and OpenRouter have free tiers. Paid keys bill you at the provider's own rates, with no markup from us.
Yes. Cancel in one click; Pro stays active until the end of what you paid for, then the app drops back to Basic. Nothing is lost and nothing keeps charging.

One continuous stretch of asking questions — up to two hours, more than enough for a full interview, and follow-ups inside it are free. Basic includes 2 a month, Weekly 3 a week, Monthly 6 a month, and Yearly is unlimited. The count is kept on your Mac, never on a server.
Interviewing is a season. If you only need the final two weeks before on-sites, pay for those two weeks and cancel — that is the point of the weekly plan.
No. CluePilot has no feature to defeat proctoring or monitoring. The one feature that hears anybody but you — practice listening — is built for mock interviews: it is off by default, asks for consent the first time, shows a red indicator the whole session, stops itself after an hour, and refuses to run while the window is hidden from screen sharing or the Dock. Using the app in an assessment that forbids AI is against our terms and on you, not the app.
